The Black Forest girl is ringing the dinner bell on this original Black Forest Cuckoo Clock with shingled hip roof and bell tower. The dog Hasso is waiting patiently in front of the house for his portion. The wood case is stained in walnut and decorated in the front of the house with miniature windows with shutters, flower boxes, and a balcony. The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour. As the Cuckoo calls, the girl rings the bell using the rope.  After the cuckoo calls on the hour and half-hour, one of the two alternating melodies plays. During the music, the water wheel turns and dancing figurines dressed in folklore dress turn to the music on the balcony. The clockface, numbers and clockhands are all made of wood. This clock has a manual night switch off. The mechanical clockwork runs for 24-hours.
